1 dead, 1 injured after motorcycle collides head-on with car in East County

JULIAN, CA – A motorcyclist was killed after he collided with another vehicle head-on in East County yesterday afternoon, according to FOX 5 San Diego.

The crash happened on northbound State Route 79 near K Q Ranch Road at about 1:30 p.m., when the operator of a 2008 Harley-Davidson Dyna Glide motorcycle went over the center line and into the lane of oncoming traffic. There, he collided head-on with a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta.

The motorcyclist, a 33-year-old man from Oceanside, died at the scene.

The driver of the Volkswagen sustained minor injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The motorcycle then crashed into a Toyota Land Cruiser being driven by a 62-year-old woman from Arizona.

A second motorcyclist, a 57-year-old man from Oceanside, crashed into debris from the collision, causing him to fall off his vehicle.

The second driver and second motorcyclist were not injured.

Authorities continue to investigate the series of crashes.
