1 hospitalized after multi-vehicle wreck on I-5 near SDSU

SAN DIEGO, CA — At least one person was injured Thursday afternoon in a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 8 near San Diego’s College Area, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident happened on the eastbound lanes just east of College Avenue, near San Diego State University. It was first reported by the CHP at 3:41 p.m.

Officials have not shared details on the cause of the crash, but a black SUV and another vehicle became wedged together as a result.

The CHP traffic incident log indicates a female driver was transported to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

At least three flatbed tow trucks were requested at the scene, suggesting significant damage to all involved vehicles.

By 4:00 p.m., all vehicles had been cleared to the right shoulder, with an emergency vehicle blocking one lane.
