1 hurt as SUV hits fire hydrant, overturns near SE Fallbrook

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — Major injuries were reported early Tuesday evening after a rollover collision involving a fire hydrant near southeast Fallbrook, reports the California Highway Patrol.

The accident took place at the intersection of Gird Road and Knottwood Way. It was first reported shortly after 5:00 p.m.

Officials did not say what led up to the wreck, but a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV flipped onto its roof after striking the hydrant.

No other vehicles appear to have been involved.

At least one person suffered minor injuries, but it was unclear whether they required transport to a hospital.

Tow services were requested at the scene, indicating major vehicle damage.
