1 seriously hurt as dump truck overturns in west Temecula

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — At least one person was seriously hurt Wednesday morning in a rollover crash near west Temecula that caused an asphalt spill and a gas leak, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at the intersection of Los Gatos Road and Carancho Road. It was first reported to the CHP at 8:50 a.m.

While the circumstances of the wreck are unclear, the CHP said a dump truck carrying asphalt overturned onto its side, blocking the entire roadway with asphalt and leaking gas.

The CHP Traffic Incident page indicates “major injuries” in the incident, though officials have not confirmed the number of people injured. No other vehicles appear to have been involved.

By 3:52 p.m., about seven hours later, crews had uprighted the truck, but the roadway was not expected to be cleared for another few hours due to an ongoing cleanup of the area.
