2 hospitalized after rear-end collision in Ocean Beach

SAN DIEGO, CA — Two people were injured Wednesday night due to a two-vehicle crash in San Diego’s Ocean Beach neighborhood, reports FOX 5 San Diego.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Sunset Cliffs Boulevard and Nimitz Boulevard at around 9:50 p.m.

According to San Diego Police, a 26-year-old woman was driving a 2015 Kia Sol eastbound when she rear-ended an eastbound 2008 Nissan Altima that was stopped at the lighted intersection.

A 25-year-old male passenger in the Kia suffered a spinal fracture and reported a loss of sensation in his legs. He was transported to a local hospital along with the driver of the Nissan, a 40-year-old woman who cited head pain. Officials said the injuries to both patients are considered non-life-threatening.

An investigation by the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division remains underway, but officials said alcohol was determined not to have been a factor.
