2 hospitalized after rollover collision near El Cajon

SAN DIEGO, CA — Two people were sent to the hospital Saturday after a two-vehicle crash in an unincorporated area of El Cajon, reports Times of San Diego.

First responders arrived on the scene off Jamacha Road, shortly after 11:55 a.m.

An early investigation indicates a woman driving a Toyota when she tried to turn onto a private road from the eastbound lane of Jamacha Road.

Officials said the Toyota was then hit by a woman driving a Chevrolet, causing the Toyota to overturn.

San Miguel Fire and Rescue crews worked for about 30 minutes to cut open the roof of the Toyota and extricate its driver, who had become trapped in the wreckage. She was then rushed to Sharp Memorial Hospital with major injuries.

One occupant in the Chevrolet also suffered undisclosed injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The vehicle’s other two occupants declined medical transport, even against the recommendations of responding medics.

At this time, the cause of the crash remains unclear. No pending charges or citations have been reported as of this writing.
