2 injured in multi-vehicle wreck on SR-54 near Bonita

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — Two men were injured, one critically, in a rollover crash Saturday night on California Highway 54 near north Bonita, reports NBC San Diego.
The accident took place on the westbound lanes near Exit 5 to Briarwood Road at around 8:30 p.m.
An early investigation by the California Highway Patrol indicates a Ford Mustang collided with a Lexus in a center lane before a truck struck the Lexus. The impact of the second crash caused both the truck and the Lexus to roll further down the roadway.
The Lexus was then hit a second time by the truck. The driver of the Lexus, who had removed his seat belt after the first contact with the truck, became trapped in the wreckage.
Firefighters extricated the male driver before rushing him to a local hospital with major injuries. Authorities said he faces the possible loss of one leg.
The other male drive of the truck was able to exit his vehicle. He suffered a serious cut to one hand.
Two female occupants in the Mustang were not reported hurt.
