2 residents hurt as DUI suspect crashes into Coronado homes

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — Two people were injured last Wednesday, April 13, when a DUI suspect crashed into two homes in Coronado, reports The Coronado Times.

The incident occurred in the 1200 block of 4th Street, near B Avenue, at about 8:30 p.m.

According to the Coronado Police Department, a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway and slammed into two houses along the road.

Two residents between the two homes suffered minor injuries, though it was unclear whether they had to be hospitalized.

Authorities said the driver was arrested under suspicion of DUI, and his passenger, who was not reported hurt, was released from the scene.

An engineer responded to the scene to evaluate the structural integrity of the homes, both of which sustained significant damage.

Two lanes of 4th Street were shut down during an investigation.
