3 hurt as Tesla crashes, lands on ambulance in Kearny Mesa

SAN DIEGO, CA — Three people were hospitalized Wednesday morning after a collision involving a Tesla and an ambulance in San Diego’s Kearny Mesa area, reports FOX 5 San Diego.

The accident occurred on Greencraig Lane, near the Kaiser Permanente hospital, at about 9:40 a.m.

According to San Diego Fire-Rescue, a driver in a Tesla appeared have accidentally accelerated while trying to reverse out of a parking space. The vehicle was sent down a small embankment before slamming over a fence and partially landing on top of a parked ambulance.

A photo taken at the scene shows the car suspended about 7 to 8 feet off the ground.

The Tesla’s three occupants were instructed to remain in the vehicle until a technical rescue team could safely remove them. All three were later transported to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

No further information has been released at this time.
