47-year-old man struck by hit-and-run driver

SAN DIEGO, CA – A 47-year-old man was struck by a hit-and-run driver while loading his child into the car near a Food 4 Less on Sunday afternoon.

According to local NBC news, the man was in the parking lot of the Food 4 Less at 5975 University Avenue at about 3 p.m. He was putting his 7-year-old child in the backseat of a silver 2017 Toyota Corolla when a car struck him.

The man was pinned to his own vehicle until the driver sped away, hitting another vehicle as he fled.

Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he received treatment for a broken pelvis and other injuries. His condition was considered serious.

The child was not injured.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance as they investigate. Anyone with information is also to contact the authorities.
