Bicyclist fatally struck by driver near Mission Valley

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man died Tuesday night after being hit by a wrong-way driver while riding a bike near San Diego’s Mission Valley area, reports NBC San Diego.

The collision occurred on the 2100 block of Camino Del Rio South shortly before 9:00 p.m.

According to San Diego police, the cyclist was heading west in a bike lane along the road while a woman in a 2018 Nissan Sentra was driving east in the westbound lane. The driver struck the bicyclist with the front-left corner of her car.

The victim died at the scene, confirmed authorities.

The driver was not reported injured.

Police did not suspect drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
