Car slams into bus, catches fire on SR-163 in Linda Vista

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A DUI suspect was arrested early Wednesday in San Diego’s Linda Vista area after crashing their car into the back of a bus, reports ABC10 News.

The incident unfolded on the northbound lanes of State Route 163 near Genesee Avenue, shortly before 2:00 a.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver and sole occupant was able to self-extricate from the striking vehicle before it burst into flames.

First responders transported the driver to an area hospital for minor injuries. He was later taken into custody after being suspected of driving while impaired.

The driver and only occupant of the MTS bus was reported to be in “OK” condition following the crash.

CHP officials continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
