Ceres, CA- 6 Children In Mini Van, Some Not Wearing Seatbelts, Injured In Crash On Highway 99

6 children passengers of a mini van were injured following a crash on Highway 99 in Ceres on Monday, June 10, 2019. 3 of these children, including the child most severely injured, were not wearing seatbelts nor were seated in car seats. There were reportedly 9 people that were occupants of the Chrysler mini van. However, the said vehicle can only hold at most 8 people only. The mini van rear ended a Chevrolet Tahoe in a 45 miles per hour stop and go traffic on Highway 99. The crash apparently took place a few minutes after 1:30 pm near the Service road. It was not clear if the 2 adult women passengers of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts. These 2 passengers were identified as Blanca Marez, 35, and Aurelia Martinez, 30. Marez sustained a broken leg and jaw. Martinez sustained minor injuries. The lone occupant and driver of the Chevrolet, 61-year old Joseph Volk, was wearing a seatbelt and did not sustain any injuries.
