Child passenger, driver hospitalized after rollover crash in NE El Cajon

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — Three people, including two children, were rescued from an overturned SUV following a crash Tuesday night in northeast El Cajon, reports ABC10 News.

Authorities said the rollover occurred in the 1700 block of North Mollison Avenue at about 11:00 p.m.

For reasons still under investigation, an SUV collided with a parked car and flipped onto its roof.

As many as six nearby residents rushed to help right the vehicle back onto its wheels and remove two child passengers before local fire department crews arrived on scene.

The driver, who was extricated by responding crews after 15 minutes of work, was transported to a local hospital with one of the children. The other child was released into the custody of their mother upon her arrival at the scene.

An investigation remains ongoing, but officials say drugs and alcohol do not appear to have contributed to the wreck.
