Child Severely Injured After Being Mauled By Pit Bull in Oceanside Home

A six-year-old girl suffered extensive bite wounds to her face and head in a pit bull attack that took place on June 27 around 6:30 p.m. in an Oceanside apartment. According to Oceanside Police Lt. Leonard Mata, the child and her younger sister were taken to the home in the 100 block of Canyon Drive by their father and left alone inside the house with the pit bull and a German shepherd whole he went outside with friends to take groceries from a car.

On returning, the adults found the pit bull mauling the older girl and immediately pulled off the dog. Paramedics responding to this dog bite attack immediately transported the injured child to Rady Children’s Hospital for medical treatment.

Humane Society personnel took away the pit bull, which is expected to be euthanized. Because he left the children alone with the dogs, the father could face criminal charges for his actions.
