CHP responds to two-car crash on I-8 EB near Mission Valley

SAN DIEGO, CA — A two-vehicle accident was reported Thursday afternoon on Interstate 8 near San Diego’s Mission Valley area, according to California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred on the eastbound lanes west of I-15 and was first reported by CHP at 3:33 p.m.

An early investigation indicates a driver in a red Ford Focus crashed into a tan sedan, causing the second car to spin out. The sedan came to rest in the center divider facing the wrong direction while the Ford Focus came to a stop on the right shoulder, emitting smoke.

At least one party complained of arm pain but declined medical treatment or transport from the scene.

A tow truck was requested for the Ford, suggesting significant vehicle damage.
