Driver dies after multi-vehicle crash on SR-67 in Ramona

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A 90-year-old man died late Monday afternoon after a multi-vehicle collision on California Highway 67 in southwest Ramona, reports ABC 10 News.

The wreck took place at the Mussey Grade Road intersection at around 4:15 p.m.

An early investigation by the California Highway Patrol indicates the elderly man was driving a Toyota Prius was making a left turn onto SR-67 from Mussey Grade Road when he hit a Volkswagen Jetta head-on.

Officials said the impact of the crash sent the Toyota backwards until it collided with a southbound Hyundai Elantra.

The driver of the Toyota died was pronounced deceased at the scene.

CHP said the drivers of the Volkswagen and the Hyundai, a 49-year-old woman and a 43-year-old El Cajon resident, respectively, were not hurt in the crash.

An investigation was in progress. At this time, alcohol is believed to have contributed to the accident.
