Driver dies after single-car crash on I-5 SB near San Ysidro

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A 21-year-old man was fatally injured Saturday morning in a single-car rollover wreck on Interstate 5 near San Diego’s San Ysidro area, reports Times of San Diego.

California Highway Patrol said the collision occurred on the southbound lanes at around 5:16 a.m.

The young man was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck southbound when, for reasons still being investigated, he struck a road barrier, causing the pickup to overturn.

Medics rushed the victim to UC san Diego Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

No further information has been released at this time, but an investigation remains ongoing.
