Driver hospitalized after crashing into La Presa residence

Publish Date: 2022/03/02

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A man was injured early Wednesday when he crashed his vehicle into a fire hydrant, a residence, and a parked car in west La Presa, reports FOX 5 San Diego.

California Highway Patrol said the accident occurred off the intersection of Darby Street and Jamacha Road at approximately 5;45 a.m.

The driver told responding officers he lost control of his sedan after another driver cut him off on Jamacha.

An early investigation indicates the sedan then ran off the street and across a patch of grass before striking the fire hydrant. It then slammed into the garage of the residence, where it also hit the parked vehicle. The causing sedan came to rest in the garage with the fire hydrant stuck underneath.

The driver suffered undisclosed injuries and was transported to a local hospital. As of this writing, no updates have been released on the severity of his condition.

A westbound lane on Jamacha Road was shut down as emergency vehicles arrived at the scene.

San Diego Fire-Rescue crews evaluated nearby gas and electricity lines and found no signs of damage.

Despite damage to the garage, authorities determined the home remained structurally sound.
