Driver injured in rollover wreck near rural Alpine residence

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A 62-year-old man was injured Monday night in a single-vehicle rollover crash off a rural road near southeast Alpine, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred in a field in front of a property located at 22504 Vista Esperanza Lane.

It was not immediately clear what caused the collision, but a light green vehicle appears to have gone down an embankment and overturned.

The male driver suffered a fracture to his spine and was taken by private conveyance to Sharp Memorial Hospital. No updates on his condition have been disclosed, but the CHP traffic incident log listed “minor injuries.”

Authorities said no other occupants or vehicles were involved.

By 11:49 a.m. the next morning, the wreckage remained at the crash site, but was expected to be cleared by the end of the day.
