Driver rescued after crash in front of Chula Vista church

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A woman was rescued Tuesday morning after crashing her pickup truck over an embankment near St. Marks Lutheran Church in Chula Vista, according to OnScene.TV.

The incident took place at 580 Hilltop Drive and was first reported by OnScene at 10:00 a.m.

Authorities said the victim was driving down the driveway from the church when she became distracted, causing her pickup truck to strike a curb and go over the side of the road. The pickup became stuck and at risk of falling down the steep embankment to the street.

Crews with Chula Vista Fire and San Diego Technical Rescue were able to secure the vehicle before working to successfully extricate the woman.

No injuries were reported in the event, and no further details have been made available.
