Driver rescued after serious injury crash in Pacific Beach

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man was hospitalized last Friday after his vehicle struck multiple objects off a roadway in San Diego’s Pacific Beach neighborhood, according to OnScene.TV.

The series of crashes occurred along Grand Avenue near Bond Street. It was first reported by OnScene on April 29 at 10:12 a.m.

A preliminary investigation shows the man was driving westbound on the road when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of his vehicle. His car veered off the roadway and onto the right shoulder before striking a streetlight. It then ran down the sidewalk, where it collided with a bus-stop bench and made contact with a parked truck.

Witnesses told police they saw the vehicle flip as it went airborne off the ledge over Bond Street and hit an electrical junction box.

After the vehicle landed back down on its wheels, multiple Good Samaritans rushed to the driver, who was found unconscious.

Responding fire crews had to perform a rescue extrication to remove the victim from the wreckage. The patient was then transported to a nearby hospital with serious but undisclosed injuries.

No further details have been shared, but an investigation by the SDPD Traffic Division was underway.
