Driver seriously hurt as car hits pole in Sorrento Valley

SAN DIEGO, CA — A single-vehicle crash Thursday morning in San Diego’s Sorrento Valley neighborhood left a man seriously injured, reports ABC10 News.

The accident happened in the 9400 block of Camino Santa Fe at around 10:15 a.m.

San Diego Police said the man was driving a 2018 Mini Cooper northbound on the road when, for reasons still being investigated, he lost control of the vehicle. Moments later, it veered off the roadway and collided with a traffic signal pole.

The male driver, who suffered serious injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, was transported by paramedics to an area hospital.

Although authorities continue to investigate the cause of the wreck, alcohol did not immediately appear to be a contributing factor.
