Driver sought after hit-and-run injures 2 pedestrians in Colina Del Sol

SAN DIEGO, CA — Two people were hurt, one seriously, when they were struck by a vehicle last month in San Diego’s Colina Del Sol neighborhood, reports FOX 5 San Diego.

San Diego County officials said the incident occurred in the 4800 block of University Avenue on Saturday, August 26, at about 3:36 a.m.

According to a preliminary investigation, two male pedestrians had just left a nearby business and were walking in the alley between 4000 Estrella Avenue and 4000 48th Street. At one point, a vehicle traveled northbound up the alley and collided with the two men before fleeing the scene.

Authorities said one of the victims, a 39-year-old man, was seriously injured. No other information on his condition has been shared.

At this time, an investigation and search for the hit-and-run suspect remain open and ongoing. The fleeing vehicle is believed to be “a four-door silver/gray 2006 or newer Toyota Corolla with a sunroof.” Investigators note that the vehicle appears to have black panels on its right front side and lower bumper. A decal or damage along the vehicle’s right side, behind the replaced panel, was also observed. The driver is described as being a man in his mid 20s, of average build and height.

Officials said anyone with information that results in an arrest will be offered a $1,000 reward. Details regarding the identity and the location of the suspect, and/or the striking vehicle, should be reported to the SDPD’s Traffic Division at (858) 573-5002.
