Driver strikes light pole on Voltaire St in Ocean Beach

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man crashed his car into a light pole late Thursday night in San Diego’s Ocean Beach neighborhood, according to ABC 10 News.

The accident happened in the 4600 block of Voltaire Street, shortly before 11:30 p.m.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the wreck, but San Diego Police Department said the man hit the pole after losing control of his BMW. The impact of the crash pushed the pole onto the fence of a nearby residence.

Authorities did not say whether the home faced extensive property damage, but the BMW was totaled as a result of the crash.

Crews were called to the site for repairs to the damaged pole.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

An investigation was underway, but responding officers did not suspect the driver of intoxication.
