DUI suspect crashes into El Cajon residence

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A man was hospitalized Saturday night after crashing his car into multiple objects and a residence in far northeast El Cajon, according to OnScene.TV.

The accident occurred in the area of Rancho Canada Road and Camino Canada. It was first reported by OnScene at 9:36 p.m.

A preliminary investigation by the California Highway Patrol indicates the man was driving an Audi eastbound on Camino Canada when he failed to negotiate a right turn onto Rancho Canada Road.

Officials said the Audi continued traveling through the yard of a house, where it collided with a tree and a fence before crashing into the home.

Though the living room of the house was occupied when it was struck, no residents were injured.

The male driver, who was found laying on the ground after the crash, was transported to an area hospital. The extent of his injuries remain unclear.

CHP officers said they suspect the driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. The patient was given an initial DUI test but was also expected to be evaluated at the hospital.

Lakeview Fire Department crews were also seen responding to the incident.
