DUI suspect seriously injured in rollover crash off I-805

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man was hospitalized with major injuries early Saturday morning after a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 805 in San Diego, according to OnScene.TV.

The wreck was first reported by OnScene at 12:47 a.m.

Officials said the victim was driving a pickup truck when he tried to pass another male driver in a work van but ended up hitting the center divider. As the pickup bounced off the K-rail, it was then rear-ended by the van. The impact of that crash caused the driver of the pickup to lose control and travel across all traffic lanes. The pickup then crashed through the CalTrans fencing and went up an embankment, rolling multiple times.

Fire crews performed a rescue extrication to remove the victim. He was then transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Officials also learned he texted positive for DUI.

No other injuries were reported.

As of this writing, authorities have not shared further information on the exact location of the crash.
