E-cyclist left seriously hurt after hitting parked vehicle in Sorrento Valley

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 25-year-old man was hospitalized with serious injuries Tuesday night after hitting a parked pickup truck while on an e-bike in San Diego’s Sorrento Valley, reports ABC10 News.

San Diego Police Department officials said the incident occurred in the 5700 block of Pacific Center Boulevard at around 9:04 p.m.

Preliminary details indicate the man was riding an electric bicycle eastbound at a speed determined to have been unsafe for conditions. At one point, the bike collided into the back of a pickup truck, which was legally parked in the area.

Authorities said the cyclist, who was wearing a helmet and had a working bike light, suffered injuries to his face and “an open fracture to his left forearm.”

An investigation by the SDPD’s Traffic Division remains ongoing.
