Escondido, CA- Man Dead After Crashing His Car Into A Tree Near Country Club Lane

A 20-year old man was killed when he crashed his car into a tree near Reidy Greek Golf Course in Escondido, CA on Friday morning, June 21, 2019. The crash occurred a few minutes before 6:50 am. The man was reportedly driving a 2002 Lexus at the time of the crash. The crash occurred near the intersection of Country Club Lane and North Broadway. The vehicle reportedly veered off the roadway, hit a curb, and ended up wrapped around the tree in the median. Firefighters freed the man from the crumpled car. Paramedics took the man to Palomar Medical Center where he was declared dead. The man was identified as Nick Burcham. He was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash. According to Escondido Police Department, speed may have have been a factor that caused the crash. However, it was believed that it was raining and the road was wet at the time of the crash. So, weather may have also been a factor that caused the crash. Residents within the area of the crash site said they wanted more stop signs or signal lights to be installed on roads to avoid future road accidents.
