Livermore, CA- Boater Jockey Found Dead After Drowning In Lake Del Valle

A jockey from San Francisco appeared to have drowned on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, in Lake Del Valle in Livermore, CA. The body of the boater jockey was reportedly recovered from the botton of Lake Del Valle near Livermore late Wednesday morning, June 12, 2019. The boater was identified as Shawn Spikes, 23. Spikes was a regular rider in Golden Gate Fields and County Fair Circuit. According to East Bay Regional Parks police, Spikes was one of the people who rented a boat for a cruise along Lake Del Valle on Tuesday afternoon, June 11, 2019. According to investigators. Spikes appeared to have went overboard early Tuesday evening. Search for Spikes during the entire evening on Tuesday failed to have produced signs of the boater. However, on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, Spikes’ body was found in 65 feet of water-away from the boat dock. Spikes reportedly did not know how to swim. There were no people who saw Spikes went underwater. He was also not wearing a life jacket during the time that he drowned.
