Man arrested after police pursuit with stolen car, semi-truck in Carlsbad

CARLSBAD, CA – Police were led on a pursuit of both a suspected stolen vehicle and a semi-truck in Carlsbad on Friday morning, according to information from NBC San Diego.

The incident began at around 11:15 a.m., after authorities attempted to pull over a suspected stolen vehicle. The driver then failed to stop, and a pursuit began.

The chase ended after the driver began to perform what were described as “unsafe maneuvers,” and the vehicle was later recovered in Paseo Del Norte. The occupants of the vehicle fled the scene on foot.

One of those occupants then got into a semi-truck and trailer on Avenida Encinas. He drove through a locked fence, and another pursuit began.

After having what was described as a minor accident on El Camino Real, the trailer detached from the semi-truck.

The suspect, who was not immediately identified, was later taken into police custody.

It is unclear if anyone was injured in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
