SAN DIEGO, CA — A 38-year-old man died Thursday night after a pair of pedestrian crashes in northeast San Diego’s Talmadge neighborhood, reports ABC10 News.
The San Diego Police Department said the events unfolded in the 5000 block of El Cajon Boulevard, shortly before 9:30 p.m.
Preliminary details show the man was trying to cross the road on foot when he was hit by a westbound 2016 Honda Civic driven by a 24-year-old woman.
Though witnesses attempted to stop oncoming traffic after the initial crash, the male pedestrian was hit a second time and run over by a 2010 Toyota Corolla driven by a 22-year-old man. Authorities said the male driver was confused about what was happening and had continued driving when the Corolla fatally hit the victim, who was pronounced deceased on the scene.
An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the SDPD’s Traffic Division. No charges have been reported as of this writing.
