Man dies after crash involving DUI suspect on SR-76 in Pala

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A 65-year-old man from Fountain Valley died Monday night after a wrong-way crash on State Route 76 in Pala, reports NBC San Diego.

The fatal collision occurred on a span of SR-76 near Magee Road, at around 9:10 p.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 23-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Camry eastbound when she veered past the center line and entered the opposing lane. Shortly after, the Camry hit at least three oncoming cars, injuring seven people.

The Fountain Valley man, who was among the victims, died as a result of his injuries.

A SigAlert was enforced at 9:33 p.m., closing part of SR-76 for several hours.

The CHP said the driver of the Camry, Bianca Anahy Hernandez, of Pauma Valley, was arrested. She faces charges of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
