Man dies after trash truck crash on SR-163 in Linda Vista

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 24-year-old man died Monday morning after crashing his car into a trash truck on California Highway 163 in San Diego’s Linda Vista area, reports ABC 10 News.

The fatal collision occurred on the northbound lanes near Genesee Avenue at about 6:30 a.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates the young man was driving a Ford Fusion northbound at high speed when he struck the garbage truck, which was traveling at a slower speed in the right lane.

The driver the Ford suffered serious injuries and died at the scene, confirmed the California Highway Patrol. No other occupants were in the car at the time.

It was unclear whether anyone in the truck was hurt.

Multiple lanes of SR-163 were shut down during the response and investigation.

No further information has been released at this time, but an investigation was in progress.
