Man hit, fatally injured by vehicle while lying on Rolando Village road

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 42-year-old man has died following a hit-and-run pedestrian crash in San Diego’s Rolando Village neighborhood, reports FOX 5 San Diego.

The incident took place in the 6300 block of El Cajon Boulevard on Saturday, May 20, at about 4:56 a.m.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the man was walking southbound on the road, when, for reasons still unclear, he laid down in lane 1 of the roadway. Moments later, he was hit by a vehicle whose driver continued away from the scene without stopping.

The pedestrian, who suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to a local hospital. The medical examiner’s office said the patient’s health steadily declined during his stay, and he was later pronounced deceased.

Authorities have not released a description of the fleeing vehicle or driver, and no further information has been made available.
