Man hit, killed by vehicle on West Valley Pkwy in Escondido

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A 32-year-old man died late Sunday after a pedestrian crash on West Valley Parkway near central Escondido, according to KUSI.

The Escondido Police Department said the fatal incident occurred near the intersection with 9th Avenue, in the Vineyard area.

Preliminary details indicate the man was crossing West Valley Parkway outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by a an unspecified vehicle.

Emergency responders rushed the victim to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Authorities have not disclosed any information regarding the driver, but neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be factors in the event.

The EPD continues to investigate. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach investigators at 760-839-4930.
