Medics called after multi-car wreck on I-5 in Solana Beach

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — An ambulance was called Wednesday afternoon after a chain-reaction crash involving six vehicles on Interstate 5 near Solana Beach, according to California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred the northbound lanes of I-5 just south of Lomas Santa Fe Drive and was first reported shortly before 2:50 p.m.

According to CHP, up to six vehicles were involved, including a gray Volkswagen Jetta, a black Audi sedan, a white Honda Civic, and a white pickup truck with ladders attached.

A reporting party said an unknown vehicle cut off one vehicle, which prompted nearby drivers to slam on their brakes, causing a chain-reaction crash.

CHP described the event as a “non-contact” hit-and-run, indicating the causing driver fled the scene with no resulting vehicle damage.

All the other involved vehicles were able to pull over to the right shoulder and were not blocking traffic.

It was not immediately clear whether anyone was seriously hurt.
