Medics called after series of crashes on I-5 SB in north Oceanside

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — As many as three different crashes were reported early Friday afternoon on Interstate 5 near north Oceanside, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accidents were observed on the southbound side of I-5 south of the Aliso Creek Rest Area, near Camp Pendleton. Dispatchers first received a call at around 12:41 p.m.
Details remain limited, but officials said one crash involved two white sedans and a black SUV in the center divider, and a second crash involved a white Mercedes sedan and a pink Nissan Sentra on the right shoulder, just south of the rest area. About two miles before Harbor Drive, a third crash involving a semi-trailer and a white SUV was also spotted on the right shoulder.
It was not immediately whether or how the crashes may be connected, but at least one ambulance was called as a result of the crash involving the white Mercedes and the pink Nissan Sentra.
Camp Pendleton Police and Fire Department crews responded to the area where they were joined by California Highway Patrol officers shortly after.
