Medics respond to multi-car wreck on I-8 in central El Cajon

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A multi-vehicle accident was reported Monday afternoon on Interstate 8 near the El Cajon Transit Center in central El Cajon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred on the eastbound interstate, west of West Main Street, at around 2:15 p.m.

It was unclear what caused the crash, but officials said up to four vehicles were involved, including a white Subaru Accent and another vehicle with visible rear-end damage.

At least two vehicles were blocking the left shoulder. One other vehicle came to rest in the roadway, blocking the middle traffic lanes.

Tow crews were requested for a black Kia and a red Toyota Tacoma on the right shoulder, but it was unclear whether they were involved in same crash.

By 2:30 p.m., a Sig Alert was issued in the area, as all eastbound traffic was backed up to California Highway 125.

It was unclear whether anyone was injured.
