Medics respond to multi-car wreck on SR-56 in Carmel Valley

SAN DIEGO, CA — A multi-vehicle accident was reported late Wednesday afternoon on California Highway 56 in north San Diego’s Carmel Valley area, according to California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred on the eastbound highway west of Carmel Creek Road and was first reported by CHP at 4:34 p.m.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the crash, but authorities said three vehicles were involved. All vehicles appeared to have come to rest near the center divider, with a Jeep and a white sedan blocking the far left lane.

An ambulance was requested at the scene, suggesting likely injuries to at least one party.

No further information has been released at this time.
