Motorcyclist hospitalized after crash on I-5 in Barrio Logan

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man was seriously hurt Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle on Interstate 5 in San Diego’s Barrio Logan area, according to California Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred on the southbound lanes near California Highway 15 shortly before 1:32 p.m.

Details are limited, but witnesses told authorities a motorcyclist was riding recklessly moments before he collided with a white pickup truck towing a trailer.

The rider suffered major injuries but was said to be breathing and conscious upon transport to UC San Diego Medical Center.

It was unclear whether or not the other driver was hurt.

Multiple left and center lanes were blocked as a result of the crash but by 3:09 p.m., the scene had been cleared from the roadway.
