Motorcyclist hurt in crash on I-805 near Fairmount Park

SAN DIEGO, CA — One person was injured Wednesday afternoon when their motorcycle collided with a work truck on Interstate 805 in San Diego’s Fairmount Park area, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported on the southbound lanes of I-805 north of Exit 13 to State Route 94. It was first reported to the CHP at 3:17 p.m.

While the exact cause of the crash remains unclear, the CHP Traffic Incident Page indicates a driver in a solar energy truck cut in front of the motorcyclist, causing the bike to hit the truck.

Following the crash, the rider and their bike was reported to be down on the roadway, blocking the center lanes. Multiple other drivers stopped to help move the rider and their bike onto the right shoulder.

It was unclear whether the reporting party, who was said to be driving a white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, is the same driver of the “solar energy truck” described in the incident log.

An ambulance was dispatched to the scene for the rider, who suffered minor injuries.
