Motorcyclist injured in crash with car at Pacific Beach intersection

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 24-year-old man was sent to the hospital Thursday evening after his motorcycle collided with a car in San Diego’s Pacific Beach neighborhood, reports FOX 5 San Diego.

San Diego Police Department officials said the wreck occurred in the 4000 block of Lamont Street at about 5:30 p.m.

An early investigation found that the man was operating a 2022 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle southbound on the road at a high rate of speed. A 26-year-old woman was driving a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek westbound on Fortuna Avenue when she approached the intersection with Lamont Street. After reportedly stopping at the stop sign, she continued driving across Lamont Street. Moments later, the motorcyclist struck the passenger side of the Subaru.

The rider, who suffered injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, was transported to an area hospital. No updates on his condition have been disclosed at this time.

Authorities did not say whether the female driver was hurt.

FOX 5 News noted the absence of traffic control at that Lamont Street intersection.

An investigation by the San Diego Police Traffic Division remains underway, but DUI has been ruled out as a factor.
