Motorcyclist killed in accident on SR-94 in Rancho San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA – According to The San Diego Union Tribune, a motorcyclist was killed after being involved in a crash with a driver of an SUV in Rancho San Diego on Friday.
The collision took place around 6:00 p.m. near the intersection of State Route 94 and Via Mercado when the motorcyclist was traveling west on SR-94 on a 2003 Honda Shadow bike. A 56-year-old female driver of an SUV was traveling south on Via Mercado, attempted to make a left turn into the eastbound lanes of SR-94, but collided with the motorcyclist at the intersection.
The motorcyclist and his passenger were both ejected from the bike in the impact. The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in the collision and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His passenger also sustained serious injuries was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver of the SUV sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries in the accident.
