Off-road motorcyclist dies after striking car in Escondido

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — A man was fatally injured Thursday afternoon when his off-road motorcycle collided with a car in Escondido’s East Grove neighborhood, according to Escondido Times- Advocate.

The accident took place at the intersection of Bear Valley Parkway and Hayden Drive shortly before 12:34 p.m.

An early investigation shows the victim was riding a blue and white 2006 Yamaha YZF450 off-road motorcycle northbound on the east sidewalk of Bear Valley Parkway when he illegally entered the street. Authorities said he failed to stop at a red light at Hayden Drive and struck a 2018 Lexus NX300 that was turning left onto southbound Bear Valley Parkway.

Witnesses at the scene administered CPR to the victim before first responders arrived. He was then rushed by medics to Palomar Medical Center, where he later died.

The driver of the Lexus, a 30-year-old woman, was not injured.

An investigation remains underway.
