Pedestrian, 17, killed in hit-and-run in Escondido

ESCONDIDO, CA – A teenage girl was killed in a hit-and-run accident this morning on Mesa Rock Road, according to a report by Fox 5 San Diego.
The accident happened at 12:36 a.m. near the intersection of Mesa Rock Road and Mesa Ranch Drive.
The victim was crossing the road with her friends when a white Toyota pickup truck or SUV struck her. The vehicle was traveling at high speeds, according to the report.
People nearby attempted to aid the victim, but she died at the scene.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
The California Highway Patrol recovered vehicle parts tagged with identification numbers at the scene of the accident. There is also video evidence under review at this time.
The accident remains under investigation.
