Pedestrian dead following collision with pickup in Chula Vista

CHULA VISTA, CA – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a pickup truck while he was crossing the intersection of E Street and Broadway on Sunday evening, the Times of San Diego reports.

Police say the collision happened at 7:10 p.m. yesterday, when an eastbound Toyota Tundra collided with a pedestrian in the 600 block of E Street. Officers conducted CPR on the man until medical services arrived and transported him to UC San Diego Medical Center, where we was pronounced dead.

The victim’s name has not been released.

The driver of the Toyota cooperated with police, who released him at the scene. They do not suspect alcohol or drugs to have played a role in the crash.

Further investigations are ongoing.
