Pedestrian hit, critically hurt by vehicle at Sherman Heights intersection

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 40-year-old man was critically injured Tuesday night when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a road in San Diego’s Sherman Heights neighborhood, reports ABC10 News.

San Diego Police said the incident occurred at the intersection of Market Street and 25th Street, at around 9:51 p.m.

Preliminary details indicate the man was on foot and traveling northbound on 25th Street when he walked into an intersection against a red light. Moments later, he was hit by a 2005 Infiniti G35 coupe, which was traveling westbound on Market Street on a green light.

First responders rushed the pedestrian to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries that include a brain bleed as well as a fractured pelvis.

The SDPD’s Traffic Division continues to investigate, but alcohol has been ruled out as a contributing factor in the event.
