Pedestrian hit, seriously hurt by pickup truck in Redwood Village

SAN DIEGO, CA — A 36-year-old man was hospitalized following a pedestrian crash Saturday afternoon in San Diego’s Redwood Village neighborhood, reports ABC10 News.

The incident took place in the 4200 block of College Avenue at around 4:27 p.m.

According to San Diego Police, a 73-year-old man was driving a 2007 Nissan Titan westbound on University Avenue. As he tried to turn left onto northbound College Avenue, the Nissan struck the male pedestrian, who was standing along the street.

The victim, who suffered a lacerated liver, was rushed to a local hospital, where he was immediately put into surgery. No updates on his condition have been released, but officials said he is expected to survive.

An investigation remains in progress, but the SDPD does not suspect alcohol played a role in the crash.
