Pickup hits mail truck in front of El Cajon house

SAN DIEGO, CA – The driver of a pickup truck crashed into a USPS mail truck in front of a private residence in El Cajon on Monday afternoon.

According to CHP, the driver of the large white pickup truck was driving on Quail Canyon Road at high speeds when they swerved into a mail truck near the intersection with Tombstone Creek Road at about 2:45 p.m. The impact forced the mail truck into the lawn of a home near the intersection.

Alcohol was suspected to be a factor in the accident.

Authorities spent at least two hours clearing the scene, including cleaning up the trashcans that the accident had scattered.

An ambulance responded to the crash but it was unclear whether the pickup’s driver or the postal worker was injured or to what severity.
